Introducing Blossom & Bloom: A Lunch to Celebrate the First Breath of Spring
There’s something magical about March.
It’s that quiet shift when everything softens—when the sun stays out a little longer, the trees begin to stretch, and we get the first glimpse of bloom. I wanted to capture that exact feeling—the one where you take a deep breath and finally let go of winter.
So for March’s edition of Alexandra’s Table, I hosted Blossom & Bloom: a spring-inspired lunch dedicated to new beginnings, seasonal bloom, and the joy of softness.
The Inspiration 🌸
This theme was born from a craving for lightness. After months of rich meals and heavy fabrics, I wanted something delicate. Something floral. Something that felt like the inside of a daydream.
I built the color palette around blush pinks, creamy whites, and pops of fresh green—like a garden just starting to wake up. Ribbons and velvet bows adorned each napkin, the glassware caught the sunlight just right, and the dried florals blended effortlessly with fresh tulips. Every detail was chosen to whisper “spring.”
You’ll find some of my original moodboards below—the ones I used to guide the table, the florals, and even my outfit.
The Setting ✨
Unlike most of my gatherings, this was a lunch, not a dinner. I wanted the table to be set under the natural light of midday, with the windows wide open and the breeze flowing in. Light, airy, and intimate—just how spring should feel.
The vibe? A little romantic, a little nostalgic, and unmistakably soft.
The flavor palette 🌿
When dreaming up the menu, I looked to the ingredients that signal the start of spring. I imagined dishes that would mirror the softness of the table: nothing too heavy, nothing too loud—just quiet little bursts of joy.
I was drawn to:
Sweet peas – fresh, grassy, and ever so slightly sweet
Lemon – for brightness and a gentle zing
Chives and spring onions – herbal, tender, and not too sharp
Radishes – crunchy, peppery, and a beautiful pop of pink
Edible flowers – to tie it all together visually and aromatically
These weren’t just ingredients—they were feelings. Each one brought a note of softness, femininity, and celebration. I pictured breads infused with rose water, potato dishes kissed with citrus, creamy herb-forward spreads, and chilled bites that didn’t demand a hot oven.
This lunch wasn’t about comfort food—it was about feeling uplifted. It was a love letter to early spring produce and the joy of rediscovering flavor after a long winter.
(You’ll find the final menu, recipes, and hosting details in the Blossom & Bloom hosting guide—coming to the website very soon!)
Why It Matters 💫
Every month, I create these gatherings as part of a year-long series: A Year at Alexandra’s Table. My goal? To make hosting feel not only beautiful—but doable. To help you romanticize your life, one table at a time.
Blossom & Bloom reminded me of the joy in slowing down. Of choosing the soft thing. Of setting a table for no other reason than to celebrate the season you’re in.
I hope it inspires you to do the same.
What’s next?
In the coming days, I’ll be sharing the full menu, the recipes I developed, and all the little hosting details that brought this theme to life—from the playlist to the table styling and beyond.
Until then, I hope Blossom & Bloom offers you a little inspiration to welcome spring in your own way—whether that’s with a full table of friends or a single plate of something lovely just for yourself.
With Love & Bloom
xoxo Alexandra
